Precautions to Take Due to Increased Influenza Activity

01-16-2018

Due to the increased influenza activity in the community, East Liverpool City Hospital is recommending caution with hospital visitation, to provide additional protection to patients. Hospitals frequently enact visitation recommendations each year during influenza.

The recommended visitation guidelines are as follows to protect our patients from influenza:

Beginning today and until further notice, please adhere to the following visitation recommendations:

  1. Visitation is limited to healthy visitors.
  2. For the safety of our patients, children under the age of 14 are discouraged from visiting.
  3. Standard visitation policy is two visitors per patient.
  4. DO NOT visit patients if you are ill or are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Sore Throat
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

East Liverpool City Hospital advises the public to take the following steps to decrease the risk of getting influenza; get an influenza vaccine, practice good hand hygiene, avoid others who are ill, and if you are sick, stay away from others to decrease their changes of getting sick. If you have any concerns about visitation, contact ELOH directly.
