Frequently Asked Questions - General Inpatient Care


Q: What are East Liverpool City Hospital visiting hours? Can my children visit?
A: Please refer to the hospital visiting hours listed here.

Q: My daughter is a nurse, can she take care of me?
A: Your daughter can assist you with basic care likened to any other friend or family member. The plan of care as it relates to medications, IVs, dressing changes have to be performed by the ELCH professional staff.

Q: May a family member stay over night to assist me?
A: When it is in your best interest for someone to be with you overnight and if the roommate gives his/her permission.

Q: May I have flowers?
A: You may have flowers so long as a roommate is not allergic to them and you are not in the ICCU.

Q: May I smoke?
A: Smoking is permitted only on the Behavioral Health Unit, and then only with specific written orders from a physician.

Q: Can my family members bring food into the hospital for me?
A: Your family may bring in food for you so long as it is in accordance with your diet.

Q: How does East Liverpool City Hospital handle latex allergic patients?
A: ELCH uses products that are essentially "latex free". We assess the patient upon admission as inpatients, or for outpatient treatment, and plan treatment to be latex free, as appropriate.
