Patient Handbook

While you are in the Hospital...

You are responsible for all personal items brought into East Liverpool City Hospital. There are lock boxes in the Nursing Office in which you may store your money and other valuables. However, we encourage you to leave these items at home or send them home with family members.

No electrical equipment may be brought with you, unless they are battery-powdered. Razors, radios, etc. may not be used if they must be plugged into an AC outlet.

Personal items you may need:

  • Slippers
  • Hairbrush
  • Deodorant
  • Mouthwash
  • Shaving cream
  • Toothbrush
  • Razor (battery-powered)
  • Denture cleaner and brush

(The auxiliary Gift Shop on the first floor stocks many of these items.)

City Hospital is a smoke-free facility
Employees, medial staff members and visitors are not allowed under any circumstances to smoke or use tobacco products inside the hospital or the adjoining Metsch-Harker Building.
Smoking is permitted in designated exterior smoking shelters or at picnic tables at various locations on the hospital grounds.
Under no circumstances may smoking orders be written for patients on the Intensive/Cardiac Care Unit, Step-down Unit (Telemetry), Medical-Surgical Unit, Skilled Nursing Unit, Obstetrics and Pediatrics.

Gift Shop/Snack Bar
The Auxiliary operates the Gift Shop and Snack Bar, located on the first floor of the hospital. The Gift Shop stocks cards, toys, candy, snacks, balloons, books, magazines, newspapers, gift items, and sundries. The Snack Bar offers hot and cold sandwiches, muffins, bagels, daily meal specials and a different gourmet coffee and homemade soup each day.
Hours of operation are from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Saturday. The Gift Shop and Snack Bar are closed on Sundays; because of this, visitors may dine in the employee cafeteria on Sundays.

Proceeds from the Gift Shop and Snack Bar are donated to the hospital for facility improvement and new equipment.

The Chapel is located in the Fisher Solarium on the first floor of the West Wing. It is always open. Patients and visitors are invited to make use of it for prayer, meditation and counseling.
