vehicle will pick you up at your home, deliver you the hospital and
take you back home free of charge. A 24-hour advance notice is required
to assure service; request on shorter notice will be accommodated if
possible. The East Liverpool City Hospital Auxiliary underwrites this
service. Call 330-386-2020.
Diabetes
Education
A four-session class is designed for newly diagnosed diabetics and diabetics
who wish to learn more about their illness. The outpatient diabetes
education program requires a physician order for admission, and the
physician receives a written report at the conclusion. In a small class
setting, participants learn how to monitor diabetes, common medications
and their effects, possible complications, foot care, proper exercise,
coping with psychological effects, nutrition and general daily care.

Quit
Smoking Class
This intensive quit-smoking program is designed for smokers who have
tried to quit and failed. Desire to quit smoking is the single most
important factor in success. Classes meet from 6-8 pm on Tuesday and
Thursday for eight weeks. Call 330-386-2670 to find out when the next
class begins. This class is offered free as a community service.
Home
Health Care
You may require nursing care, therapy, personal aide, housekeeping or
other services in the home after discharge from the hospital. Some health
services can be prescribed by your physician and may be covered by your
insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. You may qualify for payment of other
services, such as housekeeping, through a program such as Passport,
which is designed to keep people in their homes as an alternative to
nursing home care. These services can be provided locally by one of
several qualified home health agencies. Ask your nurse to contact a
social worker before your discharge and that person will help you obtain
these services. You will be given a list naming agencies that service
our area. Ohio Valley Home Health, a non-profit visiting Nurse Association,
is a local agency affiliated with East Liverpool City Hospital. You
may contact it directly by calling 330-385-2333.
