Obstetrics/gynecology
(One Family Place)
Obstetrics and gynecology patients are cared for in One Family Place
on the sixth floor of the East Wing. This unit is a secure unit permitting
access to patient's room only after proper identification of all visitors.
The unit has six private LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Post-Partum) suites,
better known as birthing rooms, providing a home-like atmosphere for the birthing
experience. A fully equipped operating suite in the unit is used for obstetrical
surgeries and caesarean sections. The unit has six female surgical/antepartum rooms.
Staff members work closely with Akron Children's Hospital and other
Level I neonatal units in order to assess, stabilize and transfer high-risk
births.
