Family Medicine Residency

East Liverpool Health System’s Family Medicine Residency is a non-profit program that offers a 3 year residency that operates in compliance with the standards of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. The program is staffed by family doctors that truly enjoy teaching.

Your Education

Our objective is to make you the best doctor possible upon completing your residency. You will gain experience through direct interaction with patients, daily lectures and combined internal medicine and family medicine presentations. Your patient experience will include giving sports physicals to local school athletes, visiting and caring for patients at assisted living facilities and Osteopathic manipulation to improve patient health.This is a technique osteopathic physicians used to examine and treat patients to improve blood flow, lymphatic flow, reduce pain and facilitate the healing process.

Your Experience

You will be receiving training in a family medicine clinic that is modeled for the 21st Century. The residents will be working in a patient centered medical home that uses electronic medical records and tablets to update patient records and order prescriptions. The residents will have office space where they can perform research.

The program is affiliated with East Liverpool Health System, which is an independent community non-profit hospital that serves several counties, including patients from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. East Liverpool Health System partners is a health system that includes ELCH, River Valley Physicians, The Therapy Center, and Ohio Valley Home Health.

Your education and experience are focused on learning proper patient care that will also meet your career aspirations and development. Our doctors have created a positive environment for learning because they enjoy teaching residents and medical students. Furthermore, the program uses a night call system to provide coverage and your weekend on call schedules rotate to enable more predictable schedules for residents.
